I want to thank all of you for your kindness and support in my time of sorrow.  Kurt would be so pleased to know how many of you cared so much about him.  I'm still not sure what to do about the website, so please give me a little more time to decide what to do.  Things are pretty busy right now.  I'm still in shock and can't believe he's gone.  God bless you all.

Wendy

Hi Ya'll,

Happy Thanksgiving to everybody, and more importantly, Happy 12 year anniversary of this great website.  Can't believe that my class of 1980 is having our 30 year reunion in 2 nights at Biagios, and the cost per head is $80.  If anybody from the class has not registered, there is still plenty of time and room, as our latest headcount is about 74, and Biagios holds up to 160.  If anyone would still like to attend, please e-mail me at davidacole@yahoo.com.  Also, this Saturday, November 27th is The Alumni Food Drive on the lawn of Westwood High School, as in this season of giving, all alumni, friends, and guests can participate.  For further details of the Food Drive, I believe there has been some articles in the Community Life Newspaper, and other media outlets.  Cheers!

William - thanks for sharing that about my dad.  I would have been very young then, but seem to recall someone working with him in his Snap-On business.  My dad would take me out on his truck, starting at 7, and would have me sell tools to overcome my shyness in those days.  At one point, Kurt and our older brother Hank, would have their Snap-On trucks in the driveway (3 of them in a row) in the Township.  Thanks for bringing back those memories. Not sure if you know, but my dad passed away 7 years ago. - Dave

History to share - I'm Kurt's brother.  Back in the mid-80s, I got very good with computers and sported an 8088 (lol).  I came home on leave from the Navy and told Kurt about my computer.  He was living in Hackensack in those days.  We went out and he bought a 286 (super fast then!).  We went back to his apartment and set it up and I tought him some basic DOS commands, etc.  I came home just months later for a holiday (was overseas) and I felt like I knew nothing about computers (lol).  Kurt had decided he would become expert at computers and through books, no training, became expert.  A very brilliant man.

Tonight, 11/23/10 I, for fun looked at the WHS web sight.  I am painfully sick over learning that Kurt has passed.  I never got another chance to thank him.  Kurt, if one gives thought, was a man ahead of his time.  Now, when so many web sights have been created for commercial exploits, Kurt untied thousands of us, all linked by WHS, together and mande many happy thoughts, moments, shared pictures, and reunions possible out of his desire to provide his ' pals ' together through the internet.
Every now and then I called Kurt - I knew he was ill, but never to this degree.  He was proud of being a battler, and was always more concerned for Wendy, and his ill  father in law than himself.
Kut was a mover and shaker - he mad ethings happen.  I know he was an organizer of my/our 30th reunion for the class of 1970 - I know he help the organizer's of our 40th reunion by sharing his accumulated knowledge and email addresses.
When I think of WHS and the fun I had - I must think of Kurt - not becuase I knew him well in the late 60's but because he enriched my life by allowing me to relive the fun and relationships many decades later.  I really do not know who else has extened shuch a gift through out these past 10 - 11 years.

Kurt, I thak your for your time, energy, vision, and happienes you have brought to me by phone, in person, and by the computer world.

My condolences to the Weiss family. The good that Kurt did by this website is unmeasurable. Bringing people togeather, by any means, is something that few do as well as he did.

I worked for Kurt's father during my high school years and the lessons I learned from him, have stayed with me to this day. Truly a family that has a positive impact on all they touch.

Kurt will be missed by all of the WHS family.

I was truly saddened to hear of Kurt's passing.  What a great guy.  It's so sad that so many of the good ones have to leave us early.  To his lovely wife, Wendy, and to Kurt's family, I hurt for you...to my very core.  I am so sorry you have to go through this.  There are so many that love you and are there for you.  Don't forget that. How blessed you are that you had such a close relationship with him.  He will forever be in your hearts...and ours, his friends.  Thank you for sharing him with us.  We will keep you in our prayers.

I am so sad to hear about Kurt passing away. He will be missed by all who knew him and even others from WHS that never met him. He was a great friend.  It would be nice if Westwood High School put up a picture to remember him by.  My deepest sympathy to all his family.

Kurt was my mentor, friend, & the closest I ever had to a brother. Over the past 11 years we have laughed, fought, & been through many tribulations toghther. Kurt was the most intelligent, informed person I ever knew, choose a subject he could carry the conversation. Not being able to pick up the phone & call him with all my questions is going to take a long time to adjust to. I love you Kurt & I'm praying your in heaven.
God Bless, Susan

Wendy, please accept my condolences on the passing of Kurt. He solely is responsible for getting many past friends together as well as helping to start the multi-class reunions. He had such spirit and I am sure it was with him till the end. I am sorry that he didn't get to stay around longer in this life. Know that we are all grateful for all he did accomplish.

On behalf of the 1971 class, I would like to express how much Kurt will be missed. If it wasn't for all his help, the class would not have had our 30th reunion back in 2001. Kurt always went above and beyond to help with plans and information to help all of use keep in touch. My deepest sympathy to Wendy and Kurt's entire family. He will be greatly missed by all, I feel confident his memory will stay with many of us through the website for years to come.

To Wendy and all the Weiss family, I am very sorry for your loss.
Guess you know already Wendy, that I will really miss my Buddy Kurt. It will be hard being that we had all gotten close again after you moved back to the Township and I'm right around the corner. I will be there anytime you need me but you already know that.
You will all be in my prayers and moments of silence.
Rest in Peace, Buddy Kurt.

Dear Wendy,

Please know that we share in your sorrow at the loss of Kurt. You must know that because of his dedication, many memories are relived as old friends gather to spend time recalling "the good old days." Because you found each other after many years, those were undoubtedly the best for you both.

Our deepest sympathy to you and Dave.

Really sorry to hear about the loss of a great man, and just to think that the 12 year anniversary of this website is coming up in 2 weeks.  I too, never met Kurt Weiss, and share and agree that this man was responsible for me being able to re-connect with my childhood friends, and even discovering fellow Westwood Alumni in other places I used to live.  I used this website 5 years ago to organize the Class of 1980 25 year Reunion, and Kurt backed me up all the way!

Since the Class of 1980 30 Year Reunion is coming up in 2 weeks, I will see about "Passing the Hat" around to see if we can keep this website going, as it is felt that this website should not die with Kurt.  I will make every effort to see everyone this Saturday, I may have to twist my boss's arms, so this may be a struggle.

Presently, I am trying to find words to describe Kurt's dedication to both the Westwood and Township of Washington communities, and all I can say is, that he was "awe inspiring".  Kurt appeared to not be afraid to take the bull by the horns and stick to his convictions.  Thanks again Kurt, for all you did!

Dave - mom is still with us and as tough as ever - 83 now.  As you can imagine, this is a tough time for her and all of us.  Kim and I were there with him when he passed and he fought until the end.  Hank was there with us Monday night.  I said my goodbye to Kurt and it was a life changing moment for me -  I won't be home for the service, but I will be there in spirit and hope all of his friend and family that can make it will be there.  Thanks again for the well wishes.

Memories of Kurt (some) for me: Opening Christmas presents together in the Township; watching Star Trek, Twilight Zones and all those awesome old, low-budget sci-fi's together; hearing The Beatles, The Doors, Pink Floyd and other such music before I was old enough to know what it was all about (lol); getting his original collection of springsteen albums in the 70s; long discussions about science/astronomy and the future.  I miss you bro!
